Kaustav Mitra Joins Tynker as Vice President of Educator Programs

Former President of Infosys Foundation USA to Help Educators Bring 21st Century Skills to Kids of All Ages

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – February 6, 2019 – Tynker, the leader in helping kids to use code to become 21st century makers, today announced that Kaustav Mitra has joined the company as Vice President of Educator Programs. At Tynker, Mitra will focus on helping educators make coding fun, accessible and appealing to students of all ages.

Kaustav Mitra formerly served as Chairperson and President of Infosys Foundation USA, the largest private charitable foundation in the U.S. focused on K-12 computer science and maker education programs targeting underserved communities. At the foundation, Mitra launched several key initiatives including a pioneering partnership with the National Science Foundation and DonorsChoose.org for crowdfunding Computer Science professional development for teachers. He also launched the Pathfinders Summer Institute, a weeklong computer science and maker education professional development program for 600 K-12 teachers. Mitra also oversaw $19 million in grants to over 40 not-for-profits nationwide, benefiting over 20,000 schools and positively impacting close to five million students.

Prior to Infosys, Mitra served as a Global Vice President at SAP where he conceived, designed and launched SAP Startup Focus, SAP’s engagement with the global startup community.
